Annunciate le nominations agli Annie Awards, gli Oscar del cinema d’animazione che ogni anno vengono assegnati alle migliori produzioni cinematografiche legate al fantastico mondo animato.

Il nome “Annie” fu proposto dal marito di June Forey. È un semplice diminutivo della parola animation. Il premio è in ottone e ha la forma di uno zootropio, che è il simbolo delle origini dell’animazione e del cinema.

Il vincitore degli Annie Awards diventa automaticamente uno dei favoriti all’Oscar nella sezione miglior film d’animazione. Attualmente sono 3 i film che hanno conquistato il record, con IO statuette e I6 nominations, e sono: Dragon Trainer, Gli Incredibili e Kung Fu Panda.

Quest’anno la sfida sarà tra Inside Out (già vincitore dell’Hollywood Film Awards) con I4 nominations e Il Viaggio di Arlo con IO nominations.

Segue il film d’animazione rivelazione dell’anno “Anomalisa” le cui 5 candidature rappresentano una vera e propria conquista per il genere dato che si tratta di un lungometraggio “per adulti”che affronta tematiche profonde come la solitudine, l’emarginazione e la nostalgia e che è considerato una delle grandi sorprese dell’Award Season che culminerà con i prossimi Oscar.

Si difendono bene contro ogni aspettativa i Minions con 7 nominations, The Peanuts Movie con 5 nominations, Quando c’era Marnie di Hayao Miyazaki con 3 nominations a pari merito con Hotel Transylvania 2.
